I also did 120 in a Ferrari F430 Spyder at NJMP (the track was wet).
That story with a related one here.

Within 3 mph (indicated) of my old car's aerodynamic limit. It was stupid, but I was young and stupid. A minivan blew my doors off on the highway, I wanted to see how fast it was going. A: it was MOVING!

Tried out this "BMWs are limited to 155 mph" thing. Turns out the E61 535d really was limited to 155, but I hear that they have become less strict with limiting with their newer cars.
Oh and it was in a safe location, a.k.a German Autobahn in broad daylight during the opening match of the football Eurocup. Roads were empty on that day.

140mph. A friend's Chevy Omega (aka Holden Commodore). With my own car 120mph on the GPS. Indicated was 140, though. Both on the same straight near my mom's house.
On gravel, 80mph on a friend's twin turbo F-Series. Beer was present. We were both 16 years old.
Also good question: fastest you've ever been on non speed-proper conditions (Rain, Gravel, Snow, etc.)

270kmh(168mph) on the autobahn in a modified 911 turbo.. Fastest in a car I've owned myself was 230kmh(143mph) in a highly modified Golf Mk2.. Both GPS, not indicated.
And I've done 190kmh(118mph) on ice, that was fun (and slightly sideways). but that was indicated. so probably a bit less...

130 in a light rain on an empty stretch of 4-lane highway in my Audi 200. I just wanted to see how stable it was. I was only aiming for 100......I now know why the old 200s and 90s dominated road racing in the late 80s. If you were in a RWD car in the rain, there's nothing you could do. You retain an epic amount of grip in wet conditions.

125. I was at a series of lights with my (at the time) neighbor who owns an Integra Type R. After exchanging a few nervous laughs and words we came to the last light and left normally, but by the time we were out of the intersection the pedals were down and he was ahead about a car length before I looked at my speedo and backed off. Probably not going to happen again any time soon.

Straight six. Opel 3.0 from 1992 to 1995 and later an updated version of the Chevy 250ci straight six from 1996 to 1999 when the car went out of production.
The one I drove was a Manual 1997, with an upgraded ECU (about 200hp instead of the usual 166).
But the Omega was also available as a 2.0 in the early years and 2.2 later. The 2.0 version had the option of running on either ethanol or gas.

Truly, the fastest I've ever gone was about 110 ish in my 95 Saturn SL1, or about the same in my 73 Mustang convertible. The Stang ran out of juice in the top end so pushing that brick of aerodynamic inefficiency was too much for the 351C 2v once it hit 100.

118 MPH, 97 Nissan Maxima. That was the governor. I was young, it was my first car, and I was on a public road. Although it was obviously dumb to do on a highway, I remember thinking, it has at least 15mph more in her.
Now a days I go probably 5 over on the highway (if that sometimes). Empty curvy roads is a bit of different story, but I have to search those out.

About 150ish on a Yamaha FZR 1000. I'm not sure because it was on the banking going into turn one at Daytona. It was a Team Suzuki track school event, and I had gotten some great advice from the AOD racers that were helping coach. Tried his way and ended up 10 mph faster at my brake marker. Sat up, started braking, realized I was about to take the chicken road, and off I went around the outfield.

I've ridden in a Lotus Elise going 90 on gravel. I was navigating, we were going about 120, I missed our turn and the road immediately changed to gravel. We only had enough time left on tarmac to bleed 30mph off. The driver didn't spin out and I am still alive. Near race-slick road tires and gravel do not mix.

150+ on the Pocono tri-oval, on my BMW K1200RSL at a motorcycle clinic run by Reg Pridmore. I didn't look a the speedo too much.
The same bike for me from Rockland Maine to Philly in about seven blazing hours one day. What a beast.
I could daily hit 130 in the M3, but favorable conditions were very rare for that. There was one right hand sweeper I could hit 100 mph on early sunday mornings.
Taking a curve perfectly is much cooler to me than numbers on a speedo, anyone can mash an accelerator/twist a throttle. The perfect apex? THAT is hard.

Approx 100 in a v6 Cougar (stoopid 85 mph speedo) (various empty 2-lanes in the West). One of the most spectacular moments: After meeting the only state trooper in the area, floored it, westbound along New Mexico Hwy 60. You run through some hills west of Socorro, then drop into a dead-straight road across an ancient lakebed, the otherworldly antennae of the VLA rising from the plain.

EDIT: Just realized it looks like I'm saying I killed the Focus right then and there at 105. Not at all true. Sure that may have done some damage, but it held out for several months afterward. My dad's commute to work ultimately did it in, I think.

120 in a 70 Chevelle with the LS6 454.....very scary.
I'm not sure what rear end gears where in it, but it didn't take very long to get up to top speed. We were going about 70-75 and I punched it and put me back in the seat. I let off at 120, I ran out of balls.

i wasnt driving, but about 140 in a corvette grand sport convertible, top down
looked just like this
The best part was this big dirty rusty 2500 truck, with a turbodeisel was keeping pace, the driver was a medium skinny grungy farmer looking guy, with a cigarette in the corner of his mouth
My dad and i were cruising at about 100, and noticed the truck keeping pace, so he punched it to 120, and he kept up. we slowed and he passed us, turbodeisel bellowing, and maybe got to 125, then slowed to 100, so we passed and accelerated again, touched 140. We kept hooning down the highway accelerating, and slowing, for maybe 20 minutes, till we had to get off.
Was good fun.
